The Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) is owned and operated by Monroe County however most airport employment opportunities are through the Federal Government, VMD Corp., Mapco Parking, car rental agencies or the airlines. Air traffic control positions are handled by the FAA. Some security positions are handled by the Transportation Security Administration.

Security screening at ROC is conducted by a private vendor. Security screening employment opportunities can be found at the VMD Corp., web site.
Parking and Shuttlebus
Parking attendants and shuttlebus drivers are employed by a private vendor. Apply online with MapcoParking.

Employee Badging
Individuals who require unescorted access to the Air Operations Area (AOA), Restricted, Secured or Sterile Areas must possess an Airport issued photo ID card. Card issuance is limited to those individuals who have cleared the FBI-based criminal history check as well as the TSA-based Security Threat Assessment (STA) and have a frequent and reoccurring need for access. In addition, all card applicants must provide documentation that establishes identity and employment eligibility.
The first step to the identification process is to make arrangments to be fingerprinted.
- Contact the ROC Badging office at (585) 753-7082 or brianbradshaw@monroecounty.gov to make an appointment.
- Badging Office Hours are Monday - Friday 9 am - 5pm (Closed 1 pm - 1:30 pm).
- Do not arrange to be fingerprinted until instructed to do so by your employer.
- On your initial appointment you will be required to provide two (2) forms of identification, as well as a completed Identification Application and Certification of Background form properly filled out and signed by both you and your airport employer. - Please pay close attention to the requirements for identification. You will need one form of I.D. from list A, or one form from each list B and C.
- The most common acceptable identification is a U.S. Passport, or a drivers liscense combined with a Social Security card. Identification requirements must be met, and expired I.D. cannot be accepted.
The second step will be to take a SIDA Class.
- Do not come to SIDA training until you have successfully completed the fingerprinting process outlined above.
- SIDA Classes are offered Tuesdays from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm or Thursdays from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
ROC Driver Classes are held every Monday at 10 am
